Yes you have not heard wrongly, Old Airport Road Hawker Center is back after undergoing one year plus of renovation.
I went there on the 1st July 07 which is also the first day they reopen the hawker center.
Maybe both the newspaper and the news report mention the opening of Old Airport Road Hawker Center, it really attracts tons of people coming here for dinner.

Car park was full and I had to parked on neighborhood carpak nearby and walked there to have my dinner.
The whole place is repainted and the tables & chairs are replaced by better ones. It looks cleaner but i think it is still as stuffy as before.
They did increase the seating capacity by putting more tables and chairs in the open area.

This Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow is a must eat when you come to Old Airport Road Hawker Center, it has been here before the renovation and take a look at the queue.
You will know how popular it is. My mum queued for almost 30-45 mins for 2 plates of Fried Kway Teow.

Finally the Fried Kway Teow is here, the reason why there is such a long queue is because the boss insist on cooking these kway teow plate by plate. By the way, each plate cost $3 and $4 for a larger plate.
This is to maintain the quality of his fried kway teow, definitely it taste better than who cook in bulk.
The fried kway teow is very juicy unlike other stalls who cook until very dry. It hard to find such nice Fried Kway Teow in Singapore le.

Written by YC :

This is the second rehersal for the NDP and I manage to get the tickets to catch this preview. Quite excited and looking forward to this NDP preview. This is the first time National Day is held on a water stage and this is the WORLD’s largest performing stage on water.

I am very lucky to be seated in the yellow zone. It is the second best seatings for the preview. I must say that the stage background is very beautiful. CBD area is just behind the stage with Fullerton Hotel and Merlion just beside the stage only.

Here comes the ‘Flying Singaporean’
For this rehersal the landing for parachute are perfect! And they performed twice for NDP 07, there will be another landing later in the show. The marching in of the troops are as usual the same for every NDP.

Is this the biggest Singapore Flag??

Tian Tian Lai Char Kway Teow

Overall Rating :

This is the char kway teow stall just beside the “Tian Tian Dao Hokkien Mee” i mentioned last week. And btw, they are not related, they just happen to have similar names…

In fact, these 2 are my favourite stalls in that hawker centre ( Blk 453A Ang Mo Kio Ave 10). I like this Char Kway Teow stall because it really taste good and better than any other average char kway teow. I wont say it’s the best, but it’s definitely above average.

TheLocalKing Review : Secret Recipe Irish Lamb Stew June 19, 2007

Secret Recipe Irish Lamb Stew

Overall Rating :

This is got to be one of the best western meal I’d ever had - Irish Lamb Stew from Secret Recipe.

I had my lunch at the Secret Recipe at Vivocity that day before going
for a movie. The service is great and the food is good. Though too bad
that they don’t offer FOC ice water anymore.

One wholesome piece of lamb rib slow cooked with the unique Irish sauce
really makes my meal more delightful. It comes with whipped potato and
a bun. Oh, and there’s carrots in the stew sauce.

I really love the stew sauce. Read more here….

Yes! Asian Cafe (AMK Hub)

Overall Rating :

The idea of having rice balls really tempted me to try out this shop
outside AMK Hub. At least you couldn’t really find it just around
anywhere in Singapore.

It’s labelled “Yes! Asian Cafe.

It’s a small cafe with only around 10 tables, but they do have a lot of
items on their menu. From toasts to western food to their unique rice
balls.

When i was deciding what to drink, the counter staff recommends me
their speciality yes! coffee. Alright, it tastes better than normal
kopitiam coffee, but i dun think it’s from expresso or anything high
class. One glass like this cost $2.50, a bit ex!

They have 3 flavours of rice ball, namely Thai pineapple rice, chicken
rice and teriyaki rice. One plate of 3 balls cost $2.90. You can choose
only one kind or their combo.
