Yes you have not heard wrongly, Old Airport Road Hawker Center is back after undergoing one year plus of renovation.
I went there on the 1st July 07 which is also the first day they reopen the hawker center.
Maybe both the newspaper and the news report mention the opening of Old Airport Road Hawker Center, it really attracts tons of people coming here for dinner.

Car park was full and I had to parked on neighborhood carpak nearby and walked there to have my dinner.
The whole place is repainted and the tables & chairs are replaced by better ones. It looks cleaner but i think it is still as stuffy as before.
They did increase the seating capacity by putting more tables and chairs in the open area.

This Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow is a must eat when you come to Old Airport Road Hawker Center, it has been here before the renovation and take a look at the queue.
You will know how popular it is. My mum queued for almost 30-45 mins for 2 plates of Fried Kway Teow.

Finally the Fried Kway Teow is here, the reason why there is such a long queue is because the boss insist on cooking these kway teow plate by plate. By the way, each plate cost $3 and $4 for a larger plate.
This is to maintain the quality of his fried kway teow, definitely it taste better than who cook in bulk.
The fried kway teow is very juicy unlike other stalls who cook until very dry. It hard to find such nice Fried Kway Teow in Singapore le.

Written by YC :

This is the second rehersal for the NDP and I manage to get the tickets to catch this preview. Quite excited and looking forward to this NDP preview. This is the first time National Day is held on a water stage and this is the WORLD’s largest performing stage on water.

I am very lucky to be seated in the yellow zone. It is the second best seatings for the preview. I must say that the stage background is very beautiful. CBD area is just behind the stage with Fullerton Hotel and Merlion just beside the stage only.

Here comes the ‘Flying Singaporean’
For this rehersal the landing for parachute are perfect! And they performed twice for NDP 07, there will be another landing later in the show. The marching in of the troops are as usual the same for every NDP.

Troops Marching into the Stage

Is this the biggest Singapore Flag??

Sun Yanzi’s Latest CD April 11, 2007

Sun Yanzi’s latest album is out for already a few weeks le! I actually
wanted to get it earlier but decided not, cos i think it would probably
have a re-edition, with an extra VCD inside. So i decided to wait.
Nevertheless, after seeing the lyrics on my fren’s msn and hearing the
song on radio and tv mobile, i finally decided to just go and buy it
lah, ears too itchy already, haha

After listening to it quite a few times, i found that the first 6
tracks, up to the song “An Ning” are all not bad, but the tracks after
that makes me bored. The songs inside have similar melody or tunes. All
12 tracks genre quite similar. If i were to listen to the songs
individually at different times, i might like it more, but i feel quite
bored listening to the whole album 1 shot. Maybe they should add in
more light-beat songs and try a bit more genre.

As usual with it’s previous albums, she got 1 fast beat and 1 sad song
as her main theme songs, which are “Ni Guang” and “Wo Huai Nian De”. I
feel that “Ni Guang” is quite ok only, i expect better. “Wo Huai Nian
De” is the song which makes me want to buy the album. Though it feels
like her previous songs also, i quite like the chorus. And i think it
sounds a bit similar with the song “Wo ye heng xiang ta”.

The song “Gu Ji Gu Ji” quite nice also, a rather different genre, but too bad, that’s the only want. Go and watch the MV at http://www.emimusic.com.tw/pop/yanzi/ bah.

Another type of Bond? November 23, 2006

Just watched the new 007 movie, Casino Royale, featuring the new James Bond played by David Craig. Really not my kind of Bond.

I have not watched all the James Bond moviews, just a few, but my kind of James Bond is the suave looking spy playing with super high-tech gadgets to fight the bad guys. He shouldn’t fight with hands, but only his trademark pistol with the silencer attached. He should be a playboy and doesn’t attach much feelings for the bond-girl, not as much as to the extend to quit his 007 status for the girl. And last of all, he shouldn’t be jumping and climbing around like Jackie Chan. Jumping around, fighting with bare-hands are for asian spy, hollywood spies should play with technology, that’s what makes them popular, as much as i think so.

Well, the reverse is all that i can find in the new James Bond played by David Craig. Not that i don’t like his face or his acting, it’s not his fault i think. I just don’t really like the plot with James Bond fighting like a thug, and climbing and jumping around like jackie chan. It’s interesting though, but not my kind of Bond.

And worse of all, he shouldn’t crash his car just to avoid hitting someone, a bond should be good with gadgets as well as having superb control over his vehicle.

There’s no unique flavour in this new James Bond movie distincting it from the Asian ones. I think the director might want to add some asian factor into the movie, but it lost the technology part I’m more keen to lookout for, so i don’t really like it.

Vivo City November 22, 2006

This is the first time visiting the new Vivo CIty since its opening in October. All the exam hypes and projects are hogging me up for the past few weeks, finally got chance to go there today when my exams are just finished.

First impression of the place — it’s big and filled with quite a few shops i have not seen in other shopping centres, like gap, desigual, and some other names which i forgot already :p

It seems like vivocity is very engrossed with its watery theme, the logo is, the internal design architecture also.

Got this wavy pillar

And the wavy ceiling designs

And there’s a very large roof-top garden cum playground at the top level.

Doesn’t look like it’s the roof-top of a shopping centre right?

There’s a very large below-knee deep pool spanning across the roof-top for children to play However, I don’t really like the colour of the water.

I don’t really think anyone would expect a lifeguard to be stationed there…….

There’s a marche coming up!

And a planet fitness gym at the balcony towards the sea, what a nice view for jogging, eh?

Got a few cafes at the balcony with great sea view, a good place to chit chat, relax or study, hmmm…..

A good view of sentosa from the balcony, and isn’t that the new monrail to sentosa?

A good view of the harbour at the right

And there’s even a playground, vivocity is so kiddy-friendly eh?

There’s a food republic foodcourt at the top level, with a very nolstagic 60’s theme.

All the stalls are designed like olden day food stalls; even the tables and chairs are the old wooden type. Guess what, the speakers are playing chinese classic oldies like ’shanghai tan’. Overall, atmosphere is good, the food is good but the food’s expensive…

There’s also a small division at the 1st storey with all the spanish shops like desigual, chocolat factory and also a barcelona fc shop. But the stuff are super expensive though, saw a jacket from the barca store selling at $308, and the price of the other shop is also above a 100 bucks on the average.

Last but not least, the cinema’s seats are rather comfortable and widely spaced apart between rows. Anyone can easily walk through without any difficulties.

btw, if you are driving there, i recommend you to take one of the leaflets near the escalator, it indicates the area where your car is parked. Me and my friends spent like about 20mins looking for the car, haha :p
