After so long, i finally had the opportunity to go over to the Red Dot Museum to take a good look!

After walking out from the Tanjong Pagar MRT underpass, i was greeted by this incorrigibly red building at the opposite side of the road.

That’s the Red Dot traffic building, which i think it should be a Red Patch instead! haha.

And this is the purpose for my visit - the MAAD bazaar!
MAAD for Market for Artists and Designers

The bazaar is only available on the first weekends of each month and visitors can visit it for free during the bazaar. If not, a fee of $5 is chargeable for each adult.

The museum is at the inner side of the building and you gotta walk in to see it. There are other shops and a cafe in the building as well.

The sides at the inner building is funkily decorated with graffitti!

The first room in the museum is densely packed with stalls selling numerous different merchandises.

Think it’s a great stop for ladies, the stuff are mainly dedicated for ladies’ fashion consumption with lots of nicely crafted self-made accessories, vintage inspired dress and graphically inspiring T-shirts.

The second room is truely a musuem.

The museum showcased numerous state of the art designs on simple things from water tap, fire extinguishers, children emergency suits to multi-function mobile phones. I was just wondering when ever will these design come into the market.

There’s one more inner room where the bazaar continues.

It’s much more spacious here. And you can even see artists at work!!

More stalls here!!

More clothes!

Vodka bottles transformed into creative lamps!

There’s this funny stall, selling funny things. I don’t get what it is, heard that they do poems on the spot on a type writer!!! Saw they took polaroid pictures, and from what the sign says, they selll erm….. bad drawing? for 1cent…. oops!

Got this white dog bobby stall selling numerous merchandise based on the inspiration from the owners white dog called bobby.

There’s photography display too….

And the main purpose for my visit. ALL(a pets charity organisation) calendar is selling here, and i’m here to support a bit, hehe.

Ordinary card board calendars are transformed into creative works in the hands of illustrators and artists.

This is part of the museum……

Ang Mo Kio central, after so many years, finally got it’s own shopping centre!

It’s build on the plot of land where the old Ang Mo Kio bus interchange is. Many years backed, when i’m still in polytechnic, they tore down the building, proposing to build an air-con bus interchange over it (that’s what i heard). But the construction process stopped after around 1year, leaving behind a plot of untouched construction site surrounded by fence. It’s in that state after i graduated, when i am serving NS, and still so after i ORDed.

Until around 1 year ago did it start to continue it’s construction, and it’s finally “almost” ready!

Currently, only the B1 and B2 levels are opened.

though it’s still quite empty at B1. The place is quite big, around the same size as Junction 8. A few shops are already opened, like Converse, Baleno, IP Zone, etc and quite a few other shops i can’t remember, can start shopping already, haha. Anyway, people have started shopping there already. However, i feel like the centre area is too spacious, like waste of space, should have put some shops in the centre area.

B2 level is very crowded with people, mainly because NTUC have shifted there, and most of the shop space are already occupied.

The NTUC is one of the biggest around i think, it’s even named FairPrice “Xtra”. Other than normal grocery items, it also sells clothes and other stuffs, much like the Carrefour or the previous KMart, but of course lesser items. Still way to catch up.

This level is a level for foodstuff, other than NTUC, there’s quite a number of shops like breadtalk, jollibean, bengawan solo, etc. The centre of the walk way is occupied with a row of eateries selling finger food like donuts, chocolates, sausages, dim sum, etc etc. There’s also a chinese herb shop, a digital electronic shop, VCD shop and even a fengshui item shop.

Too bad, i don’t think they are going to build a cinema there, probably because Jubilee entertainment centre is still around, but the cinema quality is not very good. Anyway, feel like a shopping centre is not complete without a cinema (Personal preference).

Can’t wait for it to be 100% done!

This is the first time visiting the new Vivo CIty since its opening in October. All the exam hypes and projects are hogging me up for the past few weeks, finally got chance to go there today when my exams are just finished.

First impression of the place — it’s big and filled with quite a few shops i have not seen in other shopping centres, like gap, desigual, and some other names which i forgot already :p

It seems like vivocity is very engrossed with its watery theme, the logo is, the internal design architecture also.

Got this wavy pillar

And the wavy ceiling designs

And there’s a very large roof-top garden cum playground at the top level.

Doesn’t look like it’s the roof-top of a shopping centre right?

There’s a very large below-knee deep pool spanning across the roof-top for children to play However, I don’t really like the colour of the water.

I don’t really think anyone would expect a lifeguard to be stationed there…….

There’s a marche coming up!

And a planet fitness gym at the balcony towards the sea, what a nice view for jogging, eh?

Got a few cafes at the balcony with great sea view, a good place to chit chat, relax or study, hmmm…..

A good view of sentosa from the balcony, and isn’t that the new monrail to sentosa?

A good view of the harbour at the right

And there’s even a playground, vivocity is so kiddy-friendly eh?

There’s a food republic foodcourt at the top level, with a very nolstagic 60’s theme.

All the stalls are designed like olden day food stalls; even the tables and chairs are the old wooden type. Guess what, the speakers are playing chinese classic oldies like ’shanghai tan’. Overall, atmosphere is good, the food is good but the food’s expensive…

There’s also a small division at the 1st storey with all the spanish shops like desigual, chocolat factory and also a barcelona fc shop. But the stuff are super expensive though, saw a jacket from the barca store selling at $308, and the price of the other shop is also above a 100 bucks on the average.

Last but not least, the cinema’s seats are rather comfortable and widely spaced apart between rows. Anyone can easily walk through without any difficulties.

btw, if you are driving there, i recommend you to take one of the leaflets near the escalator, it indicates the area where your car is parked. Me and my friends spent like about 20mins looking for the car, haha :p
