Abandoned Bull Mastiffs April 20, 2009

On the evening of 19th April, Sunday, someone discovered 2 bull mastiff at the gates of Pet Movers, Pasir Ris Farmway 3, where we are located. It is said that an old woman left them there and walked away. The 2 dogs are big, and handsome, both unsterilized, their coats are well taken care of, and it is evitable that they have been reared and not strays.

Such act is not only irresponsible, it is also illegal in Singapore. The owner will face a penalty of a $4000 fine for each dog. Fortunately, one of them has a microchip, and we have the microchip reader. We’ll be able to trace back the owner of the dog and get to the owner.

These 2 dogs are currently staying in our shelter for the time being. However, we do not have the capacity and finances to keep them. Yes, we do take in stray dogs in the past, but currently our place is too full to take in any more dogs, and this will only encourage irresponsible dog owners to dump their unwanted dogs. If the owner is not going to get back to us in 2 weeks time, we have no choice but to send them to SPCA. If you know who is the owner of these 2 dogs, please let us know, and let the person know. We will get to the bottom of this and get the owner to be responsible for their actions.

I would like to take this opportunity to stress that Pets Villa will not take in unwanted dogs dumped by their owners. We do not have the capacity to do that. It is the responsibility of the dog owner to take care of the dogs for the dog’s entire life time.

These 2 dogs, though big, are very gentle and good-natured. My phototaking skills didnt do them justice, they look much better in real life, and they reminds us of Dinner, another big, good-natured and handsome dog in Pets villa.
