A short dinner at ZhengFa Seafood January 8, 2008

It was our new year eve dinner last week, me and my friends decided to eat at some place more accessible. Well, town is definitely out of the way, as we decided not to squeeze with the humongous fireworks-watching crowd. Going back home would be a problem. Nah, so we shifted our attention to the less popular western part of Singapore – Sunset way.

Sunset way is like a small Holland Village, there’s quite a few restaurants and a pub. Well, we actually intended to get some western food, but it’s fully booked cos of the new year season. Walking one round around the vicinity, we finally decided to go for some chinese food instead and Zheng Fa Live Seafood restaurant seems to be the premier choice around the vicinity.

Good thing we are quite early, and getting a table for 3 is rather easy. We quickly settled down and took our long sweet time deciding what to eat. And during this time, the crowd began to build up.

Maybe is because of the new year season crowd, the waitresses aren’t very responsive, and the cooking is rather slow. It took quite a while for the food to arrive at our table.

Ok, now we shall come to the food.

This is our main dish and primary motivation to eat there. Crabs! Woo! I love to eat crabs, especially Chilli Crabs! This one is really very nice, i simply love the gravy. It’s not too hot, nor does it have any sourish taste, perfect! One thing is for sure, it’s fresh. The meat is tender and juicy.

And for $34 like this, there’s quite a lot of the 3 of us. Not to mention their deep fried mantou. They are a must-have for chilli crabs, dipped into the sauce for a heavenly and sinful meal.

The mantou is really quite filling, just look at the inside.

Ok, here’s the other side dish we ordered – tofu with scallop.

Hmm…. this one is a bit salty. It’s scallop on tofu, topped with black bean sauce. I personally doesn’t like black bean sauce, but i think the texture of the tofu is very good. The scallop is fresh also, just the problem with the sauce.

We actually still got a fried rice but somehow, the waitress brought it to the other table mistakenly. Anyway, we are full already, so we decided to cancel it. Nevertheless, i still think the service is still quite ok, as the waitress and the lady boss (i guess) approached us to find out how we like the food. And not to mention that they are v polite (but v busy also).
