This is the 2nd year i participated in my hall’s night cycling event. Wee! It’s absolutely fun, the more i cycled the more energetic i become. Haha i dunno why.

I got into hall production committee this year as publicity, so for this event, i joined the hall prod team also, together with OG Luka as Bravo Company. Oh yah, this year’s night cycling team is Exercise Rising Sun. We are split into 2 groups of 3 companies each to reach our goal. So military yet so funny.Anyway, the theme is really not important at all. It’s only a story to start off with, and no ending….

This year’s route is from Hall to East Coast Park, via holland road and nicoll highway. Though the route is less exciting than last year’s, i really think it’s cool to cycle along the CBD area like nobody’s business. Haha

I even went past the place i am working now.

See all the super blur pictures, i took them with my handphone while i was cycling. Ha, am i a good cyclist.

We reached east coast before dawn, when the sky is still dark, hoping to catch a glimpse of the sun rise. Then as the sky began to lighten up, but yet showing no signs of the “bright red salted egg”, i thought there isn’t any chance liao. But then after a while, after the sky has already brightened up, traces of red light began to emerge among the cloudy horizon. And soon…  we got to see our “Rising Sun” at last!

Yeah…. told u the story is not important at all, the JCRC ppl didnt show any signs of exclamation or continuing of the story when the sun is up. Except that the audience began to take pictures of the sun rise while the JCRC is trying to give away the medals for the inter block games.

Hope i will be there for night cycling next year….. my final year….. final semester!!!!!

881 review September 4, 2007

Just watched 881 movie at Tiong Bahru plaza. I think the movie is really quite good. It depicts the 2 getai sisters’ life in a very “Hokkien song” fashion. Throughout the movie, the depiction of their emotions are always accompanied by very sad hokkien songs. There is a part when Weilian is singing a very sad song at Si Ma Lu, his singing is really very touching. And i typically like the way the director deal with the sad scenes. There is one scene when “big papaya” returns home, but her mother doesn’t want to acknowledge her. The scene is supposed to be very sad, and then, the “big papaya” started to sing a hokkien song. I was like ….”er…..”, it’s really quite amusing when the hokkien song is played accompanied by the sad scene. It makes me wonder whether should i cry or should i laugh out loud.

The last scene is also one of the best, showing the 2 sisters hugging together when “small papaya” is dying. I think they are like seated on a revolving disc or something, with “small papaya” in her last few minutes. Then after she died, “big papaya” sang alone in the next “7th month getai”, and the next scene shows ”small papaya” appeared singing with her. I think that is the most heart-felt scene in the movie.

The show is not really all about sad stories. There are also many situations when the director uses very exaggerating moves. Such as the powers of the “Getai Xian Gu”, which is totally out of the way. She is a human, but she lives in a temple like a goddess, with magical powers. And the “Durian Sisters” can take out crossbows to aim and fire at the Papaya sisters. In the last “battle”, they really have very exotic costumes and props, even a bulldozer comes into the way. Not to mention that the papaya sisters can switch costumes split second in just 1 song.

I don’t usually prefer local movies, and this is in fact the first local movie i had ever wanted to watch in a cinema. For that, i will give it 5 stars. Well done!

My Roast Chicken Wrap September 1, 2007

I like staying in hall, do my own laundry, cooking, cleaning, and enjoying the quiet moments of my life. To me, it’s very relaxing and enjoying, as they are the rare moments of my life when it is slow. So recently, i got myself a new frying pan from ikea, for the main purpose of cultivating my creativity in cooking.

I got this idea when i went to Raffles City last week. Out of the Pan and crepes! Well, i can’t make crepes, but i can always get substitutes! I got the Gyro bread from carrefour @ Suntec. It’s a kind of unleavened bread i think. Looks cool to me. Together with the baby butterhead lettuce and black pepper roasted chicken, it makes a very satiable meal.

Ingredients:

Gyro Bread, Roasted Chicken, Lettuce, Cheese and Honey

1. Heat the gyro bread on a pan, without oil, until i heats up or become bloated

2. Remove the bread from the pan and put cheese on top of the bread.

3. Heat the chicken on the pan

4. Place the chicken on the bread, on top of the cheese, so that the cheese will melt.

5. Top it with some lettuce and roll it up

6. Place the rolled bread back on the pan, and heat it to melt the cheese and seal the opening.

7. Eat it hot on the pan!
