I think i have something to add to the reasons.

The price of the VCD and DVD is not justifiable to the value the consumer will receive. How many times will you watch the same show over and over again, especially when there’s so many episodes for the title. And what is the price? $40+, $60+, etc, depending on how many episodes are there. Paying such a high price for something you’ll only watch once is definitely not justifiable. Well, the cost of making the shows might be high, but it’s the problem of the business, not consumers.

A business exists because it can produce a needed product or service effectively and efficiently for the market. Taking an example of a small hawker stall. If it can produce delectable food at a reasonable price, it will stay in business. If it’s cost is too high to produce dishes acceptable to consumers at competitive prices, it will soon go out of business. And it applies to all businesses.

Video film makers should just apply technology to prevent piracy and also reduce its pricing to be more competitive and justifiable for consumers. That’s your problem to be solved, not for consumers.

To begin with, i’m a bit supporter of open source. Why? Cos it’s free and good (to the extend of what i can get without paying).

Well, it’s good that they are free and provide reliable products. But i they open source projects should pay more attention to how they look. Just take a look at these website printscreens below.

This is Microsoft’s website, a company that is “hated” by many smaller competitors and users, but doing still doing very well.

This is linux.org. Linux is a open source (free) operating system equivalent to MS Windows, except that it’s free and more reliable. But it’s website is like damn shit, looks like a website in the era when internet was just made available with 56k modem.

Then came ubuntu, one of the “brands” of linux. The website is at least a bit better and quite clean, but the problem is it haven’t much evolved since i first visited it a year ago.

“First impression counts”. How many of you will think open source software is comparable to Microsoft looking at their websites. This is the Era of “Looking Good”. Look at Mac’s Ipod, Ibook, Windows XP, Photoshop. They look professional, aren’t they? And what is more important? They are successful. Then how many people are using Linux or Gimp (an open source version of Photoshop) or Open office?

Microsoft are even coming out with hardware products already. One of their latest project is the Surface

It’s a “coffee table” computer with multiple touchscreen access.

So when is open source coming with better design standards? I dun mind to pay as long as it’s not as expensive as Microsoft or adobe.

The annual aquarium exhibition is here again, this time at Suntec City!

As of previous years, the entrance fee is $8, so expensive.

This year, i think not as impressive as the one i first went to, i think 2 years back. Their “New Products Showcase” like nothing much, not impresive enough to attract people, tat’s y you can see like, so empty.

Anyway, this year really not as impressive. I remember last time got sea horse tank, now dun have, so disappointed. Then there are quite a few stalls with only tables and chairs, no exhibitions anything. What are they there for? Hmmm….

Something not bad, the mini aquarium that can be mounted onto the wall.

With suitable lighting like the one above, it becomes a beautiful ornamental display for your living rooms. Nevertheless, i dun think it’s really good. Firstly, the depth and width of the tank is too shallow for the fish to enjoy. Secondly, it seems like the water pressure is too strong for the small fishes in this tight setup. It seems to me that the fish have difficulty swimming near the side of the tank.

Yep! This one is good! It’s a really nice and solid coffee table with a gold fish tank inside. You got the best view of the gold fish. It says that changing of water is only once a year. And the whole setup, inclusive of the delivery, flora and fauna, is a whopping 2, 3 thousand dollars!

This one is the bar table.  There’s also a dinner table with built in aquarium. Nevertheless, i dun think it’s a very good idea though. I dun prefer to watch the fishes, or let the fish watch me eat, especially when i’m eating fish… haha

Can’t decide whether to have a freshwater or salt water tank? Have both then!

Lastly, as usual, there is the competition area. Not very impressive too, except the planted tank, haha. That’s my favourite!

Though this one didnt win any price, the sediment looks pretty impressive, i can’t make up what is it. The white color one, and btw, it’s not white sand. The material looks something like clay though.

So long never blog le….. i was damn busy and damn lazy. OMG!!! This is a post i should put up on last saturday!

My first time canvassing for hall, working as manpower helper for for the ups family day….

Woke up super early that day, cos need to reach Expo by 8.30am. Then halfway on the journey, bass called me saying that they want to start earlier, so ask us to take cab down instead. Ok, so be it. I took a cab over at lavendar, but i felt i shouldnt. Why? the cab is just travelling along the mrt line all the way, take train faster. Nvm, anyway can claim.

This is my booth, i’m a bouncer for the bouncer. Hahahaha. I didnt realise that watching over children is so tiring. At first, i just let them go up as they wish, since the bouncer seems like it can tahan. Then, more and more children went up, and the boys started playing rough. Seems like this is a popular booth among the kids. So then i make all of them come down and go up in batches. Good that the kids still quite obedient, call them they will respond. At first, i thought i might need to go up catch them down. Heng Heng.

See the links above, the person ganna heat stroke and paralysed. Now, He’s got only $500 a month from SAF. WTF!!! Getting into this state when defending the country during peacetime, and that tiny whiny $500 is what u get. 

His future is all gone! While the ministers are getting such a big pay increase, that is what he got for defending the country.

Someday, when i had enuf money, i’ll move out of this place!
