You Are a Peacemaker Soul
You strive to please others and compromise anyway you can.
War or conflict bothers you, and you would do anything to keep the peace.
You are a good mediator and a true negotiator.
Sometimes you do too much, trying so hard to make people happy.

While you keep the peace, you tend to be secretly judgmental.
You lose respect for people who don’t like to both give and take.
On the flip side, you’ve got a graet sense of humor and wit.
You’re always dimplomatic and able to give good advice.

Souls you are most compatible with: Warrior Soul, Hunter Soul and Visionary Soul

Today i went to pet villa on my own. Thanks Cathy for letting me in, hee!

Looking at Happy makes me happy!

happy

She’s such a happy, loveable dog, haha, vert strong though, and quite naughty!!!! I wanted to take her out for a walk, but cathy told me happy ran away yesterday!! She slipped away from her collar and leash while she’s out for a walk. Cathy had to drive a long way to look for her. Bad Girl! No outing today.

As usual, Carrot is drowning me all over with her saliva. And now after i bathed, my towel is full of his smell! Hahaha

carrot

I tried to take her full photo, but whenever he saw me looking at he, he’ll run forward to lick me, so i can’t get any good shots him. OOps! i forgot is “he” or “her” le, i think is he ba….:p

Then there is this beautiful daisy.

daisy

I once thought she’s a border collie, hmmm…., but i don’t think so. Her ears do looked like one…..

daisy 2

I really like her, very pretty, and a bit hyper active, and naughty too.

Then there is Cheeky! (hey hey, happy wants a part in the photo too!)

cheeky

Cheeky’s a small dog, but mind you, he’s fierce and he’ll bite if you come too close to Cathy. He’s just jealous when anyone comes too close to Cathy, and his fangs are long! A volunteer told me every volunteer there has been bitten by him before!

Our 3-legged friend is cozying around!

3leg

And this is yellow, it seems to be owned by one of the volunteers.

yellow

Very pretty dog, aint it? I like her tail, so feathery.

Caught sight of one peeping tom! haha

standing

He’s got a nice figure, hehe.

Mohan was preparing the food for the wild dogs at Mandai, so i offered to help.

dog food

That’s rice, mixed with chicken, and small pebbles of dog food. I helped to mixed them with my bare hands! Haha, a bit yucky though. I cleaned my hands thoroughly before doing it, so that any dog eating it won’t die of food poisoning, haha. I just combed the dogs with my hands, so there might be fleas or germs, etc mah…. Hehe, also cleaned the pail containing the pebbles, hopefully next time i come can do more! hehe. And wish Happy is good enough so i can take her out!

The end!

Mainland Tropical Fishfarm July 30, 2006

I’d always wanted to go inside there, as i was passing by the place everytime i went to pet villa. So today, i finally stepped into Mainland Tropical Fishfarm. It’s located at Pasir Ris Farmway 1, which is very near the main road and some hdb flats, so it’s quite convenient actually, not like other farms, situated in ulu ulu places, haha.

mainland tropical fishfarm

It’s divided into 2 sections, to the right are many ponds under the shade of a light veil, where many people are standing around with their lovely children exploring the fishes. The right side is a sheltered area, holding many many tanks, mostly of goldfish. And also the office, and a shop selling aquarium equipments.

inside mainland

So i started exploring the ponds at the right side, most of which are koi ponds.koi

Watching the kois swimming happily in the water really clears my mind of all the unhappy thoughts. Then there are 2 ponds holding some super gigantic freshwater fishes.

arapaima

As according to the signboard, this breed is known as “Arapaima”, they are the biggest freshwater fish in the world, reaching lengths of 6 feets or more. One of which i saw is even bigger than the st bernard! Wah, better be careful, i think it can eat me up if i accidentally dropped into the pond. :p

There are quite a lot of people there, sitting on the stone chairs provided, enjoying the scenery, while the children are playing around, looking at the fishes. There are fences around the fish ponds, so don’t worry, the kids are safe, haha.

There’s also a small lane with a long stretch of pond, filled with guppies, for people, especially children, to catch. Small pails and nets are provided. Saw many children squatting by the side, trying to catch the poor guppies. Yes, to fall in the hands of the innocent, but ignorant childrens, is really pathetic. There are a few dead guppies drifting by also, see!

There are 2 tanks by the side of the pond, i don’t know why they are placed there. One is over-populated with bala-sharks, the other is with oscars.

oscar

This one is not too bad, cos the oscars are not fully growned yet. The bala sharks are all quite big, so it seems a little bit too cramp for them.

I went to the other side, noticed a nice planted tank residing in a more enclosed compartment.

nice tank

Argh! I didnt check the quality of my photo, the overview of the tank is too blur! Btw, the tank is filled with ferns, windelov, nana, and some other plants i’m not too familiar with. The plants are quite closely packed, with thin twigs jutting out sparingly. I like it!

Well, that’s all i have to say for this. The place doesn’t really have much variety of fish, and it seems to be more catered for people to visit and feed the kois. Haha, they are selling fish food $4 a pack to feed the kois, red-tailed catfish and the arapaima! Wah, so expensive! haha.

Feeder Fish July 29, 2006

I went to the aquarium shop at the nearby market place today, with the only intention to “see see look look”. Then i saw the shop owner in the process of feeding his fishes. To be specific, he’s feeding the arrowana in his tank, which it also shares with a siamese tiger fish and 2 birchirs.

He handpicked the worms, and dropped them one by one until the arrowana stops eating. So that left with one live worm struggling inside the fishtank. Poor thing…. nobody wants to eat it, not the arrowana, nor the tiger fish.

Then it’s the siamese tiger fish turn to have his meal. The shop owner again, handpicked some feeder fish, platy fish, to be specific. And he dropped it into the tank, the tiger fish, lived up to its name, with a “swoop”, dashes over to the pathetic, struggling platy trying to keep up with the current in the tank. The tiger fish ate it all, complete with the bones, nothing left to spill out.

I was feeling quite a bit sorry for the platy, the only purpose for it’s living is to feed the big fishes. Usually, these feeder fish are not given proper attention to their health or well-being. They are normally overpacked in styrofoam boxes with the water minimally filled to prevent them from jumping out. They are usually disease-bonded, and will not survive long. Some are worse, they are again, overly-packed, in small plastic bags, with really not much space to move around. Of course, they are not the worse, at least their plastic bags are bigger than the fighting fish.

The fighting fish, those not very good grade ones, are packed, individually in small, square plastic bags of around 10cm by 6cm! They can move a bit, but i don’t think they can turn around.

So out of pity, i bought 7 platy fishes, with 1 dollar. Actually i can get 15, but i don’t think my current tank can fill in that load.

feeder fish

Some even got white spots! But i trust myself that my current fishes are all very healthy, won’t be infected so easily, and i got antidote for it too. So these 7 little lucky feeder fish are now residing in my beautiful tank! HAHA

Went to chenghow’s place to help him fix his laptop after a gathering with my ex-campmates, and got to see his cute chinchillas.

This one is quite lonely, staying alone in his cage. But he got a nice big room all for himself and a little cave though.

chinchilla on cave

Below his cage is another cage housing a family of 5 chinchillas, and this is the father.

father chinchilla

And the mother.

mother chinchilla

With their 3 kids.

baby chinchillas

They are 2 weeks old only, so still a bit scared of people.

Took out one to play with, haha, feels like hamster.

chinchilla

I like their tails, furry furry, not like other rodents. Also bigger than hamsters, nicer to carry, but too bad chenghow say the adults will run away if they are taken out…

Hmm…. never mind, i think i still prefer dogs and cats, haha.

TAG performing at Esplanade July 28, 2006

TAG stands for Temasek Acapella Group, came from temasek secondary school. Saw their performance when i was at the esplanade yesterday.

TAG 1

Young they may be, but they do have very good talents in acapella. Only secondary school, and they are already perfoming at the esplanade, which really requires a very high standard.

Their first few songs seems quite like traditional acapella performance, a bit stiff, singing the old so classic evergreen hits. But it’s quickly followed by some “tongue stunts”. They really have a way with their tongues, making discotheque genre kind of music, only with their mouth. Wonder did their tongues ever get entangled? haha

The 5 light pillars at esplanade July 28, 2006

I was at the esplanade yesterday, when i saw these 5 light pillars, classified under the category of “Visual Arts”, outside the concert hall.

5 light pillars

Erm…. it says it is an abstract representation of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality. Hmm…. very singapore theme for the upcoming national day, but, pardon my lack of “artistic cells” in my body, i really couldn’t understand how are the pillars related to the theme, too abstract for me :p

Well, these light pillars each is made up of 12 displays, showing waves of red and white light in different free-style patterns. Except for one of which at the right most pillar.

odd pixel

Is there a technical fault? or is it on purpose? haha

Wah, trying to do things at the central library, the internet connection is free, but the connection speed sucks. Even wordpress took quite a while to load. And my panasonic phone is having trouble connecting via infra-red again! No choice, gotta wait till i get home.
